Online sales beat the high street

Tradedoubler reveals that in stark contrast to offline sales, ecommerce in the UK and across the rest of Europe has continued to perform well in January following a strong Christmas, leading to a steady year on year increase in sales generated online.

Improved online offerings from advertisers providing an enriched user experience combined with increasing consumer confidence in online shopping are continuing to drive the growth of this channel”

Encouragingly for e-retail, a recent advertiser survey conducted by Tradedoubler showed that 90% of advertisers in the UK intend to increase their online advertising spend in 2006, suggesting that retailers are allocating an increasing percentage of their marketing budgets towards online as ecommerce continues to prosper.
