The Consumer Electronics, Telecoms and Entertainment sectors have all experienced an increase in sales compared to September. Sales within the Consumer Electronics sector have continued to rise by a further 16% following huge growth of 39% in September. This sustained high growth in sales can be attributed to a number of factors, most notably the increasing popularity of purchasing specific products online. Online PC sales, which make up a large percentage of sales within this sector, are predicted to account for up to 40 -50% of all PC sales by 2008 (Jupiter Research, 2004). Digital Music Players are another example of a particlar product driving increased online sales within the Consumer Electronics sector. As the online music industry gains popularity across Europe, sales of digital music players have soared giving the Consumer Electronics industry a huge boost.

The Financial Services and Travel sectors have both expericenced a small drop in sales month on month. The Travel sector, whilst still 31% up on October 2003 has experienced a different trend over the past few months to that seen over the same period last year. Whereas in 2003 sales increased month on month from August, only dropping off slightly in December, the last two months have seen sales decrease slightly. Although December this year is expected to be a quieter month for the Travel sector, as is typical for this industry, Tradedoubler expects to see an improvement in online Travel bookings in November as consumers book pre-Christmas shopping breaks to take advantage of competitive prices abroad, and book their travel arrangements for the festive season.

The total number of sales across Tradedoubler’s European network has continued to gain momentum month on month and in October sales voumes exceeded the 500,000 mark for the first time. The value of these sales has also increased, by 15% compared to September.

Total sales volumes and values across Tradedoubler’s network are expected to increase sharply over the remaining two months of the year in the run up to Christmas.
